The Jamey Mac Story

We invite you to follow the trail that led to meeting & forming long & prosperous relationships with some great people & like anyone else; Encounters obstacles and challenges and because like the Darius Rucker song that ‘Red light’ led us to start DIVERSIFY ENTERTAINMENT..

I met Morris Hash about 30 plus years ago. We met at a lounge that he played at with a Band. He brought me up to the stage a few times to play & sing. That was an awesome feeling for me as it was my first time getting to play & sing for others. I had only played my guitar growing up for Gospel group, so now out on my own, I was able to step up & play for others in a local lounge. When the lead singer was out & didn’t make it to the shows; Morris made sure to give me a call & let me take the stage to play & sing with him.

50_billI got paid $50.00 for every appearance I made to the stage for singing those nights. Of course, back then that was a lot of money to me, along with the thrill to be on stage & playing for others.  When I moved to Nashville & started up our Company “International Productions”, to this day we still work together & of course, we are dear friends today.

I then took 3 songs that I wrote to a guy who helped me; he & his wife played & sang at a club at nights. (if you ever want to hear any of my first demos)

I purchased a book of ‘2000 Places To Send Your Songs’; so I went into a studio to cut a professional demo Promo package including a picture (more) Continue Reading  songs, Bio with each package costing me $7.00 to mail out; because I had bought the clear notebook binders to keep my lyrics in. Along with mailing out my demo tapes not realizing that there were singer/songwriter tapes that were made especially for just a 3, 6 & 12 minutes of a song(s). (of course, now I do know it & would be sending an I definitely encourage new people to send an EPK.

After mailing out many packages & getting rejection letters… which is kind of funny because (Continue… Now some of those very same people work with me.)

Finally, I got a major Company interested & Cliff Ayers called me.  I, of course, was majorly excited to talk to such an incredibly successful man ….  Helping new people get started out and had already been working with Connie Francis  And lots of other major people. I was able to work part-time with him & his company, learning the business of the entertainment industry all the while still playing the clubs and keeping my day job of Financial Planning Business.

I moved to Nashville with my car loaded down in the trunk & back seat with Valerie (my wife)

Leaving Florida on our way to Nashville, we came across an icy slick bridge and MORE..   we spun ourselves into the ditch & couldn’t get out. It put us in a serious situation just sitting in the COLD car, watching other cars & trucks come across that same bridge & watching them having the same trouble with their car sliding & we never knew if maybe one of them would be heading straight for us & could not do anything about it since we were stuck. Finally, at daylight, a wrecker saw us & pulled us out.

We made it to Nashville and the first group “Boyz To Men” was just starting out & it was my job to promote them

As for “Boyz To men” of course everyone knows how much success that they had.  I was told that I would be greater at success working behind the scenes rather than singing. I took that advice and was then introduced to Keith Bradford. Keith & I spent the whole day until late at night just brain-storming with me being in awe of how successful he was and did not have someone like me who had talents in promotion & marketing etc. and he actually had the talent of a great Artist.
